Artist: Bobbi Humphrey
Title: Blacks and Blues
Label: Blue Note
Year: 1973
Format: Vinyl LP (Original)

Review
This is one of my favorite Bobbi Humphrey LP’s. Thorough from start to finish! She definitely improvises on almost every track…produced by the Mizell Brothers. I am a huge fan of artists who can take an amazing arrangement and do their own thing effectively with it, on the top-shelf. That formula was more than efficient for B dot H for about three to four albums. Soulful and very melodic, Blacks and Blues is a mind-travel record. Kick back, and check out the clips I’ve provided to get hip.
BOLD STATEMENT ALERT!!!
Other than Roger Glenn or Hubert Laws…
Nobody is fooling with Bobbi Humphrey when it comes to rockin’ that jazz flute. PERIOD! So…Bobbi’s got a little ham and eggs coming at ya!, hope you’ve got your griddles.
Harlem River Drive
Black and Blues
Design
Straight-forward, nothing amazing about this design to me, except for her amazingly large afro. The image wrap text on the front is okay, but doesn’t give this the look and feel of a SOLID front cover, at ALL. I can say, however, that the back cover grid is strong. Other than those few points, there’s really not much more to speak on here (simply because I’m not a fan of this design overall). Shame on me…i’m not inspired to talk about this one.
