NATUREL – MOMENTOUS

My brother from another mother, Naturel, has finally released his long-awaited debut album…Momentous. As a first-hand witness to this mans growth as an artist, and as a designer, I am BEYOND PROUD of his accomplishment with this project! He covered all of the bases, from lyricism, to production, to the visual elements (all designed and illustrated by himself), and to the overall concept. It’s a different sound than what most would expect, but one that I believe you all will enjoy…so sit with it, scrutinize it, listen closely and enjoy the moment w/ the artist. Below are a few songs (7 of 13) from the LP that you can stream, but you can download the full album & artwork for FREE ~~~> DOWNLOAD

Naturel / BWI (Produced by Sonny C)

Naturel / Good Sh!t (Produced by The Stuyvesants)

Naturel / For Y’all (Produced by !llmind & Symbolic One)

Naturel / MCMB (Produced by !llmind & Russell Carter, Jr.)

Naturel / Clank (Produced by !llmind)

Naturel / Trippin’ (Produced by Omen & Audio BLK)

Naturel / Video Dater (Produced by Omen & Audio BLK)

STUYVESANTS CARD

We’ve been meeting a lot of people lately interested in The Stuyvesants, and whenever we’re out we always have to write down our information to give to people…which over time becomes a bit much. Solution? Print up some business cards. Specifics? We letter pressed the logo and supporting type in black, on an egg shell textured double-thick bright white paper stock. Clean, simple, and VERY on purpose.
DEVIL IN A NEW DRESS

You’ve all heard this track by now, but regardless, it’s such a great record and I felt like it should be a part of my blog in some way. From the style in which the sample is flipped in the production, to the lyrics, the vibe of this song just resonates with me on a few different levels! On another note, I’m really digging the design direction of these G.O.O.D. Fridays album covers, executed by Virgil Abloh. Enjoy…

JACKSON FIVE

Look at that beautiful “J5″ typography! This is a vintage Jackson 5 magazine tear.
Locomotivas.

LOCOMOTIVAS Theme:
Locomotivas was a Brazilian soap opera that aired in 1977. There were a couple of amazing things about this show, and interestingly enough, they have nothing to do with the actual show.
What makes this amazing? For starters, the logotype for the show title is super dope! A silhouette of a female w/ LOCOMOTIVAS typeset to create her undergarment, and the “V” is designed as a cover for her uhhhh…”secret place”. DESIGN DETAIL! I love it. Another thing that I really like is that they created a sound to accompany the show. The theme music was created by a great Brazilian jazz group called the Banda Black Rio (check them out). Take a look at the opening theme…
