I DO

Tuesday / Andre 3000 is easily in my top 5 emcees, here is a dope single from him, “I Do”. The production is awesome, as are the lyrics. You can always count on Dre 3K to bring something fresh to the table! Enjoy…

PASSION PLAY + BAD NEWS

Tuesday / Usually when you hear about the Sugarhill Gang, you think of “Rapper’s Delight”, which played a role in the growth and recognition of hip-hop music. But my favorite tracks from this group are 1979′s “Passion Play” and “Bad News”. These songs were beautifully arranged with guitar riffs, a sick string layer, bass lines that will take you for a walk around the block, and topped of with some nice harmonies smoothing out the grooves. Enjoy…

THINGS YOU DO

Monday / A lesser known Slum Village album, and EP under the moniker “J-88″ (circa 2000) had some of the best low key hip hop tracks, tracks that almost nobody has been introduced to. “Things You Do” is my favorite track on the record and thought it would be a great track to share on a Monday! Hopefully it inspires people to check out the entire EP, which was titled Best Kept Secret. Enjoy…

My buddy AL chopped up the background music of a Raphael Saadiq interview…simply because it was a dope beat and he wanted to listen to it in song/instrumental form (Yea, that’s just how much my crew loves music). After he sent me the chop, I knew immediately that I had to share it here! Enjoy…

Honeydew.

Discovered this song last night as I was kickin’ it with some friends. We were debating about something, then our attention was quickly turned to vh1 Soul when we heard this craaaaazy bass line accompanied by some nice vocals and dreamy keys. The artists name is Geno Young, the track is called Honeydew. Enjoy…

Doin' It.

Just found out (a whole day late), that Rashad “Tumblin’ Dice” Smith was spinning at DD172 last night. Pissed that I missed out on that, but hey, I’ll flip it into a positive and share this LL banger that Tumblin’ Dice produced almost 15 years ago. Still KNOCKS today, like it never came out! Enjoy…
