BK IN THE BLUE

Merry Christmas from The Stuyvesants!!! “BK in the Blue” is yet another unreleased track from our Stuyvesants project. This is a bright, upbeat track…one that AL and myself liked a lot, a WHOOOOLE lot, but couldn’t find a spot for it on the album, so this is our gift to the listeners. Enjoy…

REMEMBERING CLOCKERS (A SPIKE LEE JOINT)

1995′s Clockers is one of my favorite films, underrated for sure, but definitely one of Spike Lee’s best “joints”. The cinematography, photography, story line, and soundtrack were all on point. Character development and the selection of cast members played a huge part in why this film sits high on my list of cinematic favorites. Finally, Spike Lee can capture the essence of Brooklyn the way that it’s supposed to be captured, he’s mastered the art of that. If you haven’t checked this film out yet, do so when you get the time, you won’t regret it.

Bring the Strings (Unreleased)

“Bring the Strings” is an unreleased track from our Stuyvesants project (this track is the distant cousin to “Bring the Horns”, which was track 4 on the album). This is a heavy, dirty, string sample that made for a pretty dope instrumental, however, the sound didn’t quite fit the vibe of the other tracks on the album so we sat it on the bench. Enjoy…

RUNAWAY MONDAY

Kanye Runaway

Ye2

Kanye West does it again! Pushing the envelope and continuing to be thought-provoking as well as innovative in his approach to the music that he’s creating. He successfully paints an abstract visual picture for us to interpret however we may. I am absolutely blown away by the juxtaposition of elements, the color, the cinematography, the story, the sets, etc. Impressive to say the least. Enjoy the visual preview, but peep the extended gallery on my creative inspiration site, here

THE STUY

This is a recent video by Fresh Daily (a dope Brooklyn-bred emcee), that he was inspired to create over the “Stuyvesants Swing” track from our Brooklyn’s Finest record. It meant a lot to me and AL that people were influenced enough by the sound of the record to go out and create to it. From a visual standpoint, this is a well shot vid! To Fresh…much respect. Enjoy…

Taaffe Place Theme (Unreleased)

The Stuyvesants

Exclusive / This is an unreleased track from our Stuyvesants project that we released back on June 1st. The “Taaffe Place Theme” is an ode to our folks living on that street in Brooklyn (L, Matt, Mal…), it follows in a line of other homage tracks on the album, such as “Greene Ave. Anthem” (my street) and “Jefferson Ave. Theme” (AL’s street). Enjoy…

CAMP LO (DEMOS)

Camp Lo

Since posting the “Luchini” video, I’ve gone back to all of my Camp Lo records and tapes just rediscovering their sound past and present. I came across their demo tape and thought I’d share it with you all. These guys were so far ahead of their time, listen to the way they rhymed back in 1995…these are rhymes that still stand VERY strong even today. Poised, focused, on purpose, innovative, creative, just a few words that describe what the Lo brings to the table. Enjoy…

The Stuyvesants

That’s me on the left! Hahaha…we (The Stuyvesants) were invited by DJ Jon Oliver to come and do a guest spot on his set, The Main Ingredient on East Village Radio last night (BIG shout out to Jon!). We had a blast answering questions, talking about the album, art, life, and good music. If you missed it, you can check it out here.

By the way, our listening party for “The Stuyvesants” album will be held this Friday, August 13th at CLOUD in Bed-Stuy…hit me up for details! Hope you all can come out…

Peace.
