WE GOT THE JAZZ

This is video footage from our “We Got the Jazz” show on June 16th that we did in conjunction with Brooklyn Bodega and the Northside Festival. Enjoy…

INFLUENCERS: STEVE STOUTE

BOOM. I present you with the Steve Stoute interview (one segment of many to follow) from Influencers, which is a short documentary that explores what it means to be an influencer and how trends and creativity become contagious today in music, fashion and entertainment. Take from it what you may. Two thumbs up. Enjoy…

PANTY DROPPER

THE WORLD IS OURS

I was put on to this video by the infamous Leimatic, and I was a Tokimonsta fan instantly (Tokimonsta is the producer), the production is comparable to something one would hear as a soundtrack to a dream. The video also stood out to me from a color standpoint, as well as the way the shots were detailed, and told a beautiful story (in my mind) without dialogue…WIN, kudos to the director/videographer Melinda James (About Her Films)! Leilani also happens to be the subject in this video, and she was captured in her very essence, which helped this come together nicely. Enjoy…

SEVEN DAYS IN SUNNY JUNE

“Seven Days in Sunny June” has been one of my favorite Jamiroquai songs since its release, but I don’t watch much music television these days and never knew that it had a video! It’s a great feeling song, and the concept of the video is nice also. It’s like a polaroid in motion. Enjoy…

INFLUENCERS

Influencers is a mini documentary (broken down into a few different installments) that examines the people that have an influence on society in one way or another, civilian and celebrity. I really take a huge interest in these types of observations and studies because I like to see how (and what) influences different people from all walks of life. The first installment was enough to get my attention visually, musically, and from a content standpoint, so I thought I’d share. Enjoy…

LUCHINI

Loved this when it dropped 14 years ago…still love it today. Timeless music, and very appropriate for today’s post. Everybody is anxious to get their labor day weekend started, and this track (and video) will help carry that positive energy throughout the weekend! Enjoy…

THE BKC

The BKc/Brooklyn Circus represents another very important part of the modern day Brooklyn renaissance. I met the owner Ouigi (The Bearded Man) a few years back to bounce some creative ideas back and forth, and have been a fan of their whole movement ever since. The growth of the BKc’s business has been astonishing, from a business, branding, style, quality, and design standpoint. Kudos to Ouigi and team, proud of their success and wish them so much more in the future.

Here’s a brief video with shop owner Ouigi as they prepared for Project (which was last week in Las Vegas). Enjoy…

CASA BEY

This is nothing new, but as a lover of music and film/video…this “Casa Bey” joint by Mos Def needed to be shared with the masses. Not only is the track a breath of fresh air (the change-ups are ridiculously dope!), but the video concept is on point and the typographic treatments are interesting as well. Enjoy…

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT

The other half of The Stuyvesants, my buddy Allan Cole sent me this video today which uses a song (Do Anything) from our debut release a few weeks back, Brooklyn’s Finest. If you haven’t checked that out already, please do so…

But this is a little history lesson on Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn, NY. The team over at MVMT did a whole series of videos which use our beats, covering other neighborhoods in Brooklyn as well, such as Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, etc. You can view them here. Brooklyn stand up!
